SUMMER NEWSLETTER

Summer Happenings
June sent us up to the
Region 9 Championships in Ft. Worth.  Our region consists of Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas.  We go every year and every year we come home with smiles and awards.  This year Hannah Sartori was named Top 5 in Western Pleasure and Western Horsemanship 13 & under riding Rocky.  Rachel Youngblood was Top 5 in the walk/trot western and hunter divisions.  Congrats girls!
We were asked to come down to
channel 5 studios and be on Great Day SA to promote the Arabian horse.  We took Joker and Casey Lane for Show Hack and Hannah Sartori for the Arabian costume demo.  Jeannene Pegg brought a horse and two riders representing Hunter & Western.  Cleo and I were happy to be there and answer any questions about our youth and the Arabian horse.
Summer camps were a ton of fun.  We rode horses, worked on arts and crafts, and even got some swimming in.  I want to thank my helpers; without them it wouldn’t be near as fun:  Casey, Hannah, Erin, and Sherry.
We went off to the
Youth National Championships in Albuquerque, NM for 10 days in July.  This is a great show designed for youth only.  There were over 1000 horses competing from all over the nation. Hannah came home with a Top 10 win in Western Horsemanship 13 & under.  There are three judges and one judge had ranked her #1 in the United States!!  Quite an honor!  Rachel Youngblood also came home with Top 10 honors in 10 & under Showmanship, Hunt Seat Eq, and Western Seat Eq.  We are so proud of all of our riders for even getting to this level of competition.  We also had a sweep in the National Hippology testing (a test for horse knowledge).  We had a U.S. Top 10 award given to our own Skye Williams (9 & under), Hannah Sartori (10-13), Erin Strong (14-18) and myself (19 & over).  Mary & Chelsea Cogdell came out to NM and Mary participated in 4 Leadline classes and won a prize in each one.  Even Cleo came home with a Top 7 award in the Dog Costume contest.  We had a great time and will definitely head back to NM every year we can!  Check out the Arabian Horse Association website for more info and pictures.
New News
If you have noticed a new face . . . her name is Ashli Lane (we call her Laney).  Laney rode with me from the time she was 8 years old (she is now 21).  She has worked for me on and off for years and even came for a summer to work in England while Billy and I lived there.  She has been at Colorado State University for the past 4 years and has decided to come home and finish her teaching degree here in San Antonio.  She really loves the horses and will be my assistant this year.
Laney will be involved with all aspects of Harford International:  teaching, riding, showing, and anything else I can think of.

Fall Lesson Program
We have a strong
lesson program this fall.  We will have groups up to 4 riders at 5:15 – 6:00 and 6:15 – 7:00 thru October 1st.  Lessons will then change to 4:15 and 5:15.
Feel free to bring a friend to the barn to see the horses and watch you ride.  Plus, on Saturday’s you can come out from 9 – 12 to hang out and do odd jobs.
Please feel free to call me if you are interested in: leasing a horse, buying a horse, or showing this year.
*We hate to cancel lessons too!  Lessons can be canceled because of weather (too hot, too cold, too wet, too windy) or if we are at a competition.
